Duane’s love of photography began when he was young, only 9 years old. Finding an old camera that had not been touched in years, he loaded it with film and walked through the meadows of Northeast Ohio taking pictures of spring wild flowers. That day remains vivid in his memory; it was the dawn of his appreciation for photography’s ability to capture the beauty of the moment.
During his university studies, as a communications major, he continued his passion for photography – specializing in black and white work and creative darkroom techniques. After graduation he began an apprenticeship in portraiture and started his own business as a wedding photographer in the suburbs of Philadelphia in 1995. While excelling in the portrait business, Duane specialized in making his studio mobile, providing in home, infant, children, and family photography with two studios, Silversand Photography and Americana Portraits.
Since relocating to Southern California in 2001, he has continued his photography business and has expanded his creative work into digital photography. With a passion for being in control of the entire process of photography – from shooting to digital refinement to the final printing – he has made use of the latest technologies to capture vital moments for his clients.
As an avid hiker, he uses his camera to record his adventures through thousands of miles on the trail. His current work involves photographing some of the most remote areas of Pacific coastal mountain ranges – particularly Pacific Crest Trail which runs some 2650 miles
from Mexico to Canada.
For all of your photography needs, you will find Duane to be professional, creative, flexible and easy to work with. To capture your moments and memories, contact Duane.
